Cindy Mochizuki

Watch Submerge: Kami No Yu

Cindy MochizukiAmused constantly by eccentric people, Cindy Mochizuki has grown to realize that she attracts bizarre situations and enjoys morphing them into her art. She is a visual artist working primarily in video, text, installation and performance and can also be found running around Vancouver working for non-profit arts organizations like the Powell Street Festival. Among other things, she has spent the last few years working collaboratively with other artists on such projects as A Red Bean Project and tegami-ya:a letter company. Her works have been exhibited at the grunt gallery, Access Gallery, blinding light cinema and the Kelowna Art Gallery and her critical writing and poetry have been published in WestCoast Line. Cindy is one third of the troublesome collective, kitchen, which includes theatre performer, Patricia Collins and dancer/choreographer, Aretha Aoki. She was born and raised in Vancouver, BC and holds a BFA from Simon Fraser University’s School For Contemporary Arts. Cindy has temporarily stumbled into the world of animation, giving her artistic practice multiple jolts of surprises…
