Hothouse

Theme: “water and our relationship to it”

Take six promising animation filmmakers from across Canada, plant them in the NFB’s English Animation Studio, give them 12 weeks to create extremely short animation from concept to release with the full support and assistance of NFB creative experts and, voilà, the NFB Animation Hothouse! This is a practical prototype to both “talk the talk” of theory, and “walk the walk” of actually doing it.

Mentoring Team:

Chris Hinton – Mentoring Director
Chris is a multi-award-winning animator who has worked for the National Film Board, the CBC and several commercial animation studios. His films include Oscar® nominated Blackfly (1991) and Nibbles (2003). His recent NFB animations include Flux, Twang, X-Man and the Genie Award-winning abstract short film cNote.
