Hothouse 9 plunged into the realm of abstract animation with impressionistic storytelling. The best art – be it frenetic expressionism or historical novels – tells stories through visceral emotional engagement or resonant characters, contexts, or pathos. We wanted to dabble in the former; to tap our inherent human need to hear stories, but to do so with the tools of sound, shapes, and movement.

The films are imbued with wonder about the mysterious forces at work within and around us: from juggling to meditation, from ambition to physical pain, from awe to trepidation at the natural and technological world. They range in technique, from 2d animation, to 3D CGI, stop motion and even some data visualization, you know, just for fun.
